Stopover in Corfu

1–2 minutes

I stayed near Corfu Old Town since I only had one night there in order to take the airplane to Italy. I originally planned to travel around Corfu for 8 days, but opted to stay in Albania for longer this trip.

I wandered around the narrow streets of the old town, went shopping, and bought a few souvenirs: handmade leather shoes, spices, kumquat liquor.

For dinner, I was determined to have something local. The waitress suggested I order sofrito, a garlicky, saucy, tender veal, and a local beer. I also ordered tzatziki which she suggested I eat with garlic bread instead of pita.

Corfu is also known for their kumquat products, especially liquor. Instead of a kumquat liquor based cocktail, I opted for kumquat ice cream to enjoy on my walk home.

In the morning, I planned to walk to the airport, but it was raining. The very short taxi was more expensive than it should have been. Some taxi drivers are dishonest. Otherwise, I have met nice people and nice weather.
