Definitely off season

There are a lot of hikes that would be cool, but summertime is the best for those hikes paired with the opportunity of staying in the very small towns near them. Even the larger towns have some restaurants and stores closed for the season.

People with campers probably had a bit more of a remote vacation since Norway has the opportunity to camp pretty much anywhere, but those with rental cars likely followed the same route as us – mainly along the Lofoten scenic route.

It is a charming time of year to visit with the changing of the seasons and the embrace of coziness. I’m very glad I have Lauren as a travel buddy. Solo traveling here and now would feel a bit lonely.

Ballstad

We drove to Ballstad to spend the night. It had a low cost renovated fisherman house turned into a hostel. It was nice, and of course cozy!!! The town though seemed more appropriate for people who want to go to fine dining restaurants every night and stay in a quiet neighborhood where they get picked up via private transfer for excursions. It felt a bit quiet for us. The restaurants were either closed or had a limited menu, so we opted to drive back to a larger regular town called Leknes.
